Checking sources
Open and read the passage in the original document for every statement.
LOKI backs up its answers with sources. This lets you check every important statement against the original in a few seconds, instead of simply having to trust the answer.
Source references in the answer
The answer contains numbered references such as [1] or [2]. Each number stands for a source from which the preceding statement comes.
Below the answer you will find the expandable line “Used 3 sources” (with the actual number). Click it to see all sources with title and page number, for example “[1] Travel expense policy (S. 3)”.
LOKI only lists sources that are actually cited in the answer. If an answer contains no source reference, no list of sources appears either. This is a sign that the answer does not come from your documents.
Opening a source
Click a number in the answer or an entry in the list of sources.
PDF files and Word documents (.docx, .docm) from your documents open on the right in the side panel if LOKI knows the cited passage:
- The cited passage is highlighted in yellow, and the document jumps straight to it.
- In PDF files, click the highlighted passage to enlarge it.
- Use the zoom buttons at the top of the side panel to zoom between 50 and 300 per cent. Clicking the percentage resets the size.
- On a computer, drag the dividing line between the chat and the side panel to adjust the width. LOKI remembers the layout.
If LOKI cannot find the cited passage in a Word document, it shows the document from the beginning and tells you so.
You close the side panel with the × at the top right, by clicking an empty area next to it or by opening another chat. On a smartphone, the document opens full screen.
Why you should check sources
LOKI can make mistakes, for instance copying a number incorrectly or mixing up two documents. So check above all:
- numbers, deadlines, amounts and dates,
- statements you base a decision on,
- answers that seem surprising or contradictory.
If a source doesn't match the statement, rate the answer with a thumbs down (see Giving feedback). That way your team finds out about it.
If LOKI doesn't find a document
LOKI only finds documents that are shared with you and have finished processing. If a document is missing from the answers, there can be several reasons:
- It is not shared with you. Then it does not exist for LOKI. Ask your administrator or the group's manager.
- It is still being processed. New documents can only be searched once processing is complete. Depending on size, this takes a few minutes, or longer for many files.
- Document search is switched off. In the input field, check under Data sources whether Documents is switched on (see Data sources and tools).
- The question doesn't match the wording. Rephrase the question, or mention the title of the document or terms typically used in it.
You can read more about how sharing works under Concepts.
